Nio on Thursday unveiled the station wagon version of its mainstream luxury ET5 sedan with a competitive price tag of RMB 298,000 ($41,765) that could pose a threat to similar offerings by larger international rivals such as BMW and Audi. The ET5 Touring can go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in four seconds, has a larger trunk space for cargo than its original version, up from 1,100 litres to 1,300 litres, and can carry roof loads of up to 75 kilograms. By comparison, Audi’s A6 Avant wagon is priced from RMB 460,800 in China while BMW’s 3 Series Touring has a starting price of more than £41,000 ($44,860) in Europe. The Chinese electric vehicle maker said it will begin deliveries of the hatchback sedan in China on Friday and later hand over the cars to customers in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
