Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) on Thursday launched Hyper, a new, high-end brand of electric vehicles, and demonstrated the Hyper SSR, its first supercar under the marque with a starting price of RMB 1.29 million ($180,000). Claiming to be China’s fastest all-electric supercar, the sleek two-seater can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmh (62 mph) in 1.9 seconds. It is scheduled for delivery in October 2023. GAC, Toyota’s manufacturing partner in China, plans to release three new Hyper brand models with a price tag of over RMB 300,000 next year.
