Geely is reaffirming its goal of completing more than 70,000 Zeekr-branded electric vehicle deliveries for 2022, despite growing competitive pressure and ongoing supply chain issues, as the Chinese automaker ramps up efforts to catch up to rival BYD. The Volvo parent company is also on track to launch the second production model under the Zeekr marque – a large-sized multi-purpose vehicle – by the end of the year, Andy An, Geely’s president and Zeekr’s chief executive, told investors during an earnings call on Thursday. The automaker debuted its first Zeekr-branded model 001 in April 2021 and reported deliveries of 19,013 crossovers in the first half of 2022. [TechNode reporting]
