Didi is stepping up its efforts to enter China’s electric vehicle market with plans to develop its first model targeting the booming consumer EV segment, local media Cyber-car reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Around 1,700 employees are working on the project, with the ride-hailing giant setting an estimated price tag of RMB 150,000 ($23,580), and hoping to begin delivery as early as June 2023. Didi did not respond to TechNode’s request for comment on Tuesday. [Cyber-car, in Chinese]
