Baidu is teaming up with Dongfeng Motor to deploy its advanced driver assistance software in one of the latter’s popular consumer vehicles, following a similar partnership with electric vehicle giant BYD earlier this year, the company said on Thursday in its first-quarter earnings release. The tech giant has generated more than RMB 10 billion ($1.49 billion) in total revenue from selling its in-car software, compared with RMB 8 billion by the end of December last year, chief executive Robin Li told investors. Baidu’s first-quarter revenue stood at RMB 28.4 billion, up just 1% year-on-year. [Baidu earnings]
