All of the NFL’s Wild Card games have finally been played, after the brutal weather in Buffalo prompted New York state governor Kathy Hochul and league officials to postpone the Buffalo Bills’ matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers until Monday afternoon. The Bills won 31-17, and that’s great news for anyone who likes chicken wings

Popeyes recently announced its “Wings for Wings” promotion, promising to give all of us a free six-piece order of its chicken wings if either a “winged” NFL team — or the Buffalo Bills — ends up winning this year’s Super Bowl.

That means if the Baltimore Ravens or the Bills are the ones hoisting the Lombardi Trophy and wearing brand new Super Bowl Champion snapbacks on Sunday, February 11, we can all go to any participating Popeyes restaurant to collect our winnings on Tuesday, February 13. (When it launched this promo, Popeyes also said its wings giveaway would be valid if the Philadelphia Eagles won the big game, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put an end to that possibility with their 32-9 win over Philly on Monday night.)

“The best combo in the world is football, wings, and a little wager,” Jeff Klein, the chief marketing officer at Popeyes, said in a statement. “We are making a bet with Popeyes fans in the U.S. and Canada that if a football team with wings wins it all, then we will give everyone Popeyes new chicken Wings to celebrate.”

If either Baltimore or Buffalo (which Popeyes included because of the city’s connection to, well, wings) do end up winning the Super Bowl, wing lovers will be able to collect one free six-piece order of wings on February 13 by making any purchase at a participating Popeyes restaurant or through the Popeyes app.

Popeyes permanently added wings to its menu in November 2023, and its wings are available in five different flavors: Ghost Pepper, Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, and Sweet ‘N Spicy. In a video announcing the “Wings for Wings” promotion, Popeyes talking spokes-rooster takes a swipe at one of its chicken-frying competitors, adding that Popeyes has “more flavors than that old guy with the bad goatee has.” OHHH, YA BURNT, COLONEL.

So if you’re counting on free wings, then GO RAVENS and/or LET’S GO BUFFALO! Otherwise, Popeyes’ wings are available starting at $5.99 for a six-piece.
