The size, shape, thickness, and the opening of the glass all play a role in capturing the essences of any wine as you drink it. And to get a good, universal wine glass, you don't actually have to spend a ton — or go very far. These Gabriel Glas wine glasses have taken the internet by storm thanks to the backing of Amanda McCrossin, a certified sommelier and wine expert based in Napa Valley, California who recently raved about them on TikTok. Gabriel Glas 2-Piece Crystal Wine Glass Set Amazon Buy on Amazon $68 “Gabriel Glas has been a favorite of mine for years for its lightweight design, universal shape, and durability,” McCrossin writes in the caption of the viral TikTok (it has over 100,000 likes). She notes that these are her favorite universal wine glasses, meaning you can use them for a wide variety of styles whether its white, red, rose, or sparkling — you name it. This is all because of the glasses’ thoughtful design. The glasses are made from a thin lead-free crystal for easy sipping. They have a wider diameter at the base coupled with the tapered top to create a conical shape, which helps capture the wine’s aromas. This, coupled with the thinness of the glass, makes for a more fragrant sip. So much so that McCrossin also notes that a good wine glass, like this one, can “improve a pretty mediocre wine,” since you’re able to taste its notes at a different level. Another perk is that these glasses are also dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. The set she recommends contains two wine glasses, though you can also grab it in a set of six, or as a single glass. “$68 is not nothing,” McCrossin notes in her video. “But, it is one of the best investments you can make as a wine drinker,” she adds. In fact, if you’re buying a $15 bottle of wine, the right glass can make it taste like it’s more like a $25 to $30 bottle, according to McCrossin. She also notes that she sees these used in a ton of Michelin restaurants in the Bay Area which is just another indicator of their quality. It’s always a good idea to buy a good set of wine glasses, but now’s especially timely, since the holiday season will be here before you know it. Grab a set of your own at Amazon right now.
